Music Ministry

Do you like to sing, but are unable to commit to weekly choir rehearsals? Would you like to sing with a group, but prefer to attend 8:00 AM Mass? Are you already involved with music ministry, but want to sing more at MPH? If you answered yes to any of these questions, music ministry has something for you! For 2022-23, let's put together an informal choir or schola for some of the special liturgies throughout the church year for the 8:00 AM Mass. This group is intended for those in high school and older. (An exciting opportunity for elementary and junior high youth will be announced soon!)

The schola is scheduled for the following dates at 8:00 AM Mass:

The Feast of Christ the King, Nov. 20

Epiphany, Jan. 8

Palm Sunday, April 2

Pentecost, May 28

Those who wish to participate will be provided with the music (and helpful YouTube links or recordings) so that each person can practice on their own. We'll have one rehearsal before each event (the rehearsals will each be arranged as the dates get closer) with as many participants as possible and we will warm up together 30 minutes before the scheduled Masses. If one of the scheduled Masses is bad for you, you could still participate in the ones that work for you. Also, if you are scheduled to be a lector or communion minister for one of the above dates, you could still participate in the schola. There are already four confident singers who are interested in the schola so rest assured that you won’t have to sing alone!  If you are interested in participating or have questions, contact Denise at 618-655-0455 or .
