May 12, 2020 letter from Father Joseph regarding Distribution of Holy Communion:
Peace be with you! I didn't think I would be composing another letter to you so soon. Bishop Paprocki has granted permission for our parishes to offer Holy Communion to our parishioners. In order to facilitate this in a safe, uncomplicated manner, I am ready to move forward and "give it a try". I ask your patience and cooperation as we attempt to do this while remaining within the constraints of safety and our state directives. Bishop Paprocki emphasizes that the dispensation from your obligation to attend Mass is still in force until further notice. Likewise, no one is obligated to receive Holy Communion. And so...
*Please watch and pray along with either our parish live-streamed Mass or a similar Mass as a preparation if you decide to come for Holy Communion.
*DISTRIBUTION TIMES: Sunday mornings from 8:00 to 9:00 AM and 9:30 to 10:30 AM. (I do need a break.) CHURCH WILL NOT BE OPEN FOR PERSONAL PRAYER ON SUNDAYS.
*I will distribute Holy Communion from the front/main entrance of the church under the canopy from the front steps. This is to minimize touching doors, pews, etc.
*PLEASE ENTER parking lot from Main Street (south) and EXIT from Lange Avenue (west).
*Please park in the southeast parking lot behind the Parish Office. Wait in your vehicles until a group of 10 has returned to their vehicles. A volunteer will signal for hte first group and each next group to come forward. When moving to and from your vehicles and gathering under the front canopy, please keep a distance of 6 feet from each other. If everyone watches and is patient, this can work. Remember, this is new to all of us and I am trying to keep this as simple as possible. You should wear face masks to and from. Do not wear gloves for the reception of Holy Communion.
*Once your group of 10 has reached the front canopy, please keep a distance of 6 feet. We will have a very brief time of prayer, Holy Communion and common thanksgiving. After the blessing, please return to your vehicles maintaining a distance of 6 feet and depart without congregating to visit. I do not wish to give any outside appearance that we are violating the mandate to congregate in groups of 10!
*If you wish to bring your contributions, there will be a basket near the front steps for you to drop it in. THANK YOU to all who have made an extra effort during these weeks to get your contributions to us! Your patience and generosity of spirit are inspiring!
Please remember that this is our humble attempt to provide for your spiritually. If you are elderly or have compromised health or anxiety about this...DON'T COME! The dispensation from your obligation to worship on Sundays remains in effect. Thank you for your patience!
